A7R - right time to buy & why no kit lens with the R?

I've finally got around to selling my outdated NEX 5 & have decided to go with the A7R over a Canon 5D mark iii.. however, since the release of the A7S I'm worried a predecessor to the A7R could be released soon and would be disappointed after splashing out on the current model!

How do Sony do their releases, is there a pattern like with Apple etc?

Also, lastly why can the A7R not be bought with the kit lens that is available with the A7?

Thankyou

The S isn't really a replacement to any of the other A7's - it's designed for a different user.

I imagine the kit lens isn't supplied with the 'R' as it wouldn't make the best of the higher resolution sensor. I got the kit lens with my A7 but it's soft in the corners and I hardly use it (I'm mostly using old manual lenses from film cameras)
