That's exactly what I meant my friend.  We should not have to be chasing up on rumours.  Sony should be providing clear updates either on their website or via social media such as twitter.  It's very frustrating and only puts customers off from purchasing Sony products in the future.

There's rumours that the app is expected for January 2023, so let's see what happens.

Yeah at this point we can only wait really.

My text below copied from another forum here just in case not picked up there...  Pretty annoying !

Sony have now published a list of sets that will and won't get upgraded to ITVX.  Sadly for me, my 2018 set (XF85) will not get ITVX.  https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/articles/00287614

The list of non-upgrading sets is long and includes 2021 sets.

This is really poor. Those affected will lose the second main streaming service in the UK as ITV hub will be removed. And no explanation why. I assume technology-related but come on Sony - you can do better than this !  I will not purchase a Sony again if this is what we are buying into.

with a 5 year old TV you could just plug in to a HMDI socket on TV with a Google TV or Apple TV to receive ITVX, yes additional expense but is a work around.

yes, I could do this - and am currently casting from phone to the TV - but I find this temperamental  (connection falling off between phone and TV, not from server to phone).  Also, the TV app doesn't remember where you are in a series whereas the TV one does (I believe - as per britbox). Anyway, it is rather galling not to have a fairly recent TV updating to provide a mainstream service...

@rightgradely, as far as I'm aware, the XF85 will not be supported at this stage but it might get the ITVX update soon, but it's not confirmed yet 😞

I hope you are right - but their statement about certain models (including mine) not getting ITVX - and not indicating that this was a temporary position - leaves me thinking that I probably own the wrong model !  Will keep monitoring but without much optimism...

I bought my KD-55AF8 new in december 2019.  The SONY website list this set as one of the many SONY TVs not to be able to use ITVX.

I am disgusted.

Recently, late 2022, the firmware upgraded and the whole menu interface changed totally on the set.  Now we have to press more buttons to do things such as look at the channels menu.  Also the font size used for the channel information is so small you can't read it unless you are close to the set.  The whole user interface change is a disaster - my wife cannot cope with it.  How can a major consumer goods manufacturer do this in 2022?  It surely contravenes the UK Sale of Goods Act.  I should add that I have failed to find any way that the set's previous firmware can be re-installed.

Another annoying thing: when you have been listening to an audio only programme and you switch to downloading a film, the words "Audio only" remain on the screen.  That really is clever.

Only on a limited range of very recent TVs.

The Sony A90J can now get ITVX, but he icon still says ITV HUB. But i'm sure this will updated later this month.
