Just seen this article,is it safe to assume that my 2017 model 55XE8505 will get Android 9 Pie then?

Sony did bite the bullet and updated kernel of ATV2/ATV3 based models to some 4.9 which also enables updates to Android TV 10 and 11. Keep in mind that with AG8 having been released with Android TV 8.0 Oreo, that's exactly what Sony needs to fulfill the three major updates policy.

Yes. It is ATV2 and listed in FlatpanelHD's announcement.

disappointed to see that the KD-55XE9305 is not on the list, although from what I know it is an ATV2 platform... any idea?

Think this is an oversight. It is pretty much the same as X945E. Probably there is no X935E overseas.

I do give credit where credit is due. There are however still many unresolved problems. My bug tracker will soon reflect the issues that are still open. Things are currently under investigation. Some more sporadic issues will require time to verify.

I am also working on a comprehensive update of my review.

Any hope for a return of the hide info banner feature or feature to switch it off? The random pop up when using any device connected to the ARC port is driving me nuts!

I disabled the info banner immediately after updating my KD-55XE9305.

That row is nowhere to be found on the 6.7140 on the XG90 :(, hence me asking if it will return.
