SIM Cannot register on network

I recently bought an unlocked Xperia Z1 COMPACT in Singapore and used it there for a couple weeks. (I used an M1 SIM card). I'm now in South Korea and I have a Mobing (MVNO SKT) USIM|WCDMA card but for some reason the phone can't register on any mobile network. My settings are 4G preferred/WCDMA/GSM. Search for networks yields 4 networks (two 3G: SKT and KT and three 4G: SKT, KT and LG. I've tried registering on SKT 3G and 4G but I get some error that reads: "Could not register on selected network. Please make sure SIM is inserted and selected networks are available." Sometimes I get this error: "Network with limited service found. Do you want to initiate a Network Search?" All I can see in the notifications is " No Network. selected network unavailable." Note: I've used the same Mobing WCDMA USIM on an unlocked Nokia N8 and it worked just fine. I'm using Android KitKat 4.4.2

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

First of all, make sure that your network provider supports the same network as the phone does. You can find the network that the phone supports in the white paper:

Make sure that you check the white paper for the correct model number. You'll find the model number in your phone if you go to settings > about phone > model number.

Yes, I have checked the white paper and all network providers here support the same network that my phone does.

I got a new SKT SIM card three days ago. It worked fine on this phone unitl yesterday.

Yesterday, I inserted my Singpaore M1 SIM into my phone for a couple minutes, took it out and inserted my SKT SIM that I had been using for the last 3 days and all of a sudden it wouldn't register on the network. It should automatically register on the network but it doesn't.

The SIM card has worked before on this unlocked phone so I'm really confused as to why it stopped working after I briefly inserted my Singapore SIM card.

Please help.

Can it find the network if you search manually? Did you try factory reset the phone and see?

It can find all networks upon searching but ususally there is a check mark next to the network I can connect to. I can't see any check marks on any of the listed networks. Still tried to register on them anyway and it won't work.

And yeah I tried the backup and reset once and it still won't register.

Well in that case I would suggest that you try to change network mode under settings > more > mobile network > network mode. If it doesn't work you should try with a new SIM card from your service provider to see if that works better. And if you don't experience any difference in the behavior you might need to have your phone examined by a service center. Please contact your local Xperia support team for more information:
