Xperia 1: Recent apps bug after Android 11 upgrade

After upgrading to Android 11, I experience a bug when swiping up from the home button to see the "recent apps". The standard behavior is that the current app is zoomed out, and you can scroll between the recent apps.

The bug that occasionally surfaces is that it does not zoom out. The app icon is partially visible center top, and actually you are in the "recent apps" screen now, just still full screen on the current app. It is possible to scroll between the recent apps. But, because no zoom out happened, you do not see the preview of the other apps.

Edit: actually, I think it happens when I press the back button, not when swiping up. I'll try to make screenshot next time it happens.

I am now certain it happens when I press "back" in an app (in this example in FB).

I'm using gesture navigation where this problem doesn't occur.
