USB C to 3.5mm adapter problem

Hi, I'm using an Xperia 1, I've just tried to connect my wired Sony EX650LP earphones, which have a line in mic.

Using a USB C to 3.5mm adapter, I was able to hear audio perfectly fine, however the microphone is just not working at all.

I noticed I'm able to use the phone's microphone whilst the earphones are plugged in though, which makes me think it's maybe a coding error?

Any suggestions at all would be great, if anyone had this problem, what was your solution?

Hello @Drummernaught,

which adapter do you use? If it is a TRS adapter while the headphones have a TRRS jack, observed behavior would not be surprising.

Hi, thanks for replying.

I did a bit more searching and found out about my headset being 4 pole TRRS, and have purchased a TRRS adapter, was this correct?

Hello @Drummernaught,

in this case it should work. It could still be, that the adapter is broken. Have you cross-checked with another adapter or know for a fact the adapter works (on another phone/tablet)?
