Sound not working

For some time now my VGN-CR11Z has had a problem with sound. It just seem to "give up" making any sounds at all. The only way of restoring the sound is to re-boot the whole system (which is very annoying) and even then sometimes it only restores the sound for a couple of minutes before becoming totally silent again. I have run the checks available and no errors with the sound card or speakers come up. I am running Vista if it makes any difference.
Help!

Hi bollyp,

Have you installed the BIOS Update - R0230Q0. This update fixes the issue that sound disappears after Vista SP1 update.
