Android 8.0 Manual Update?

Android 8.0 Manual Update?

Our new Bravia KD-43XG8305 was supplied running the obsolete Android 7.0. Automatic Software Update is enabled, and running Check for a Software Update wrongly reports the SW is up to date. Sony Customer Support are completely useless and repeat parrott-fashion that there is no fault and I should Update manually, which should be pretty easy but carries some risk to a brand new Product. Has anyone run the V6.6545 Update manually plz, how did it go?

Hi @SonyNoSupport   I have never had a problem updating my Android TVs using a USB stick. I believe you don’t have a choice at the moment. Either leave it as Android 7.0 or manually update it to Android 8.0. Your only choices.

Sony perfectly knows that their updates are flaky as hell. That's why they are not rolling them out on a larger scale. They put the risk in the hand of customers.

If you download the file and update via USB, you agree to Sony's terms that they cannot be held responsible for any damage that the update may cause.

I have updated mine manually to Android 8. It was very straight forward and its been fine for the last 4 months since I installed it. I just followed the steps as detailed on the page in the link below.
