Sluggish performance from TV with new updates

I am all for updates to firmware/software so as to be up to date with all the latest features, but I am finding that it comes with a cost.  And usually that cost is to the performance of your TV set.

Lately I've noticed how sluggish my TV (KD-55XD8577) is becoming when performing basic tasks.  Something as simple as playing 4K content slows down the functionality of the television regardless of whether that 4K content is supplied by Netflix, Amazon Prime or YouTube.  Even pausing 4K content will take a second or so after pressing the relevant button on the remote and adjusting the volume will make 4K video playback stutter like mad briefly, and it takes a couple of seconds for the volume indicator to show up on screen afterwards.

We know before an update is authorised that Sony customises it according to the model ranges in its brands of Android TV sets but surely there must be extensive testing of the firmware/software prior to release, and surely there must be enough customisation done in order to not impact performance?  My television was so much more fluid to use when I first purchased it compared to today and it's kind of disappointing.

Hi chomerly,

I'll see if I can find anything out for you. Maybe someone else in the community can help in the meantime.

Thanks,

Hi Chomerly,

There might be some unnecessary cache stored on the TV. Have you tried to clear it by pressing Home> Settings> Storage and Reset> Internal Storage> Clear Cached data?

Cheers,
