Sony Bravia KD-55XE8505 compatible smart remote

Hello,

Recently I bought the model KD-55XE8505 and I want to use a smart remote for it.

The problem is I cannot find a Sony smart remote to buy and the universal smart remotes are not functioning completely (not all the buttons are working for example in Netflix or Google Play applications).

I tried so far two universal air mouse + keyboard wireless with USB dongle.

In IR mode the same buttons are working fine so it cannot be a remote control issue.

I made also the Android update to v7.0 and the problem still remained.

Does anyone experience the same problem? What can be done to solve it?

Thank you!

Hi @FlaviusB  I don't make recommendations but certainly the Harmony remote I use works perfectly and includes Netflix and Google Play as standard. It also doesn't matter if any function is missing because the remote can learn anything from the original remote. Depending on your budget the Harmony Hub opens up the world of smart home.with integration with Amazon Echo. "Alexa, turn on BBC 1". I use a Harmony Elite. Each button can have two functions, short and long press. The only note of warning is the touch screen number pad doesn't suit everyone. But if you set up your favourite channels you don't use it very often. Plus you need to learn to program it if you want to do a string of commands with one press of a button.

Thanks for the info but it's too much for what I need. I just want to access al my TV functions in an easier way.

I don't understand this Sony approach, they put a lot of technologies in their TVs but you cannot access them all because they offer a very low level remote control which is not even working in all direction. You need to point the remote to the IR sensor of TV (like we are in the early 90s).

OK I can understand they don't want to invest extra cost in a decent smart remote control to be included in the TV package, but then offer the possibility to the users to buy one extra on their own cost, or maybe I don't know where to search for it (on the internet I searched a lot and nothing).

Hi guys.

I just bought the same tv and this remote control is terrible. IR sensor is like from 80s and there are too many unnessessary buttons.

I want to find and bought smart remote control like in LG or Samsung but I am not sure that they will work with my tv.

Maybe Sony RMF-TX100E or Sony RMF-ED004 will work with this TV ?

Sony please help!

It's 2018 and Sony are still shipping their latest models with a remote control that only works via directional infrared.

The new 2018 X900F/XF90 has this problem: https://www.flatpanelshd.com/review.php?subaction=showfull&id=1519270866

Their remote controls support bluetooth, they do pair with the TV over bluetooth and there is no reason other than technical ineptness why the remote control does not fully work over bluetooth.

I call this a bug. It's not a feature. It's rubbish.
