I noticed the following:
1 - If I plug my USB Memory Stick to the USB 3.0 port of my TV and use it as external storage (extfat formated) speeds are something like.:
Read: 120 Mb/s
Write: 30 Mb/s
2 - If I let the TV format/encrypt it and use it to extend internal memory and install apps, speeds drop dramatically to something like:
Read: 40 Mb/s
Write: 10 Mb/s
Is anyone else experiencing the same?
TV is model KD-55X8005C
USB Flash Drive is Samsung USB 3.0 Flash Drive DUO 32GB
Benchmark app used is A1 SD Bench
Performance is similar in Androids v6 and v7
Hi there
As a guess, the performance hit is probably the encryption/decryption process.
Cheers
MediaTek SoC's in Sony Android TV are slow and buggy till this very day (USB, NIC, A/V,...). Don't expect this to change. Sony/MediaTek development is pretty dead. All you get is major Android updates which fix or improve nothing as problems lie within kernel and drivers...
40 MB/s? With A1 SD Bench I have got 30 MB/s top w/o encryption (and my USB pen goes up to 320/230MB/s R/W in my MacBook). Copying a file with X-plore it went as low as 5MB/s. It started at 10MB/s, though.
Guess you are mixing up MByte/s and Mbit/s...

? Why? We are talking about USB 3.0 drives, not internet speeds. Actually it is even faster than what I wrote
