I recently brought a HDR CX250E and was wondering the best way to set it up.
I know a little bit about it but not enough to make a truely informed decision.
I've realised that when shooting in any modes the quality doesn't fill my 1920x1080 imac screen as well as say a 1080p video on Youtube.
The quality is good with close ups but not so much stuff a meter plus away.
When I full screen it on my iMac the picture looks blurry. Which is not what I was expecting from my brand new Camera.
So, what is the best way to set it up to get the best quality. File size isn't a problem.
And a more specialist question.
How do I import the MTS files to my iMac, because iMovie doesn't recognise them and it does say it's compatible with iMovie on the box!
Thanks in advance,
James

Hello James - Welcome to the Sony Forums
First of all, you will find that the Intelligent Auto mode will provide the best recording results in the largest number of situations and this is described in further detail on page 38 of the manual:
http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/4416299111.pdf
On page 40, you will see some information about the actual movie quality in terms of offsetting overall quality against file size / recording time and by going to the MENU, then IMAGE QUALITY SIZE and then REC MODE, you should see four different options to experiment with - hopefuly choosing 'Highest Quality' will give you the results that you are looking for.
Unfortunately, the link given on Page 58 of the manual to find out more about installing software for Mac appears to be a dead link at the time of writing :smileysad:. One possible workaround may be to connect the camera to your Mac, install the supplied software and then see if the camera is treated as a readable disc drive on your Mac. if this happens, you will be able to navigate to the files themselves and then import them into iMovie after copying them to your hard drive. If this doesn't work, please let me know what version of iMovie you are using and I will look into this further for you.
Thanks,
Simon
