DCR-DVD101e and Firewire

Hi. I have a DCR-DVD101e DVD Camcorder. I would like to transfer the mini-DVD footage from the camcorder to my MacBook Pro. The USB connection does not work. I think I need to connect the Audio/Video jack on the camcorder to the Firewire 800 socket on the MacBook.

Does anyone know if this is possible? What specifications do I need for the cable? Where can I get one from?

thanks for your help

Paul

Hello Paul - Welcome to the Sony Forums

Forgive me if you have already tried this, but have you attempted to read the video data directly from one of the mini DVDs using your Macbook and iMovie i.e. using this method to import the video? If the DVD slot doesn't allow these smaller discs to be safely inserted, you could try buying an external USB DVD drive which is Mac compatible as these have a traditional tray that the mini DVD can safely sit in.

As there is no Firewire socket on the camcorder and I cannot see a Mac compatible driver available for download on the camera's support page, an external drive may well be your best option.

Thanks,

Simon

The video card and video editing application are the must if ur MBP does not support USB transfer,
