Vista Driver for DCR-HC42E

I am running Vista Business and need an updated driver for dcr-hc42e handy cam do you know if there is one?

Hi Visintini and welcome.

There is no available USB driver for Vista or Windows 7 so the USB connection will not work.

To transfer Video from the Camcorder to a Computer, you need to use an iLink (also known as DV or Firewire) cable.  An iLink connection is supported by Windows without additional drivers.

You can then import video using Windows Movie Maker or another editing program.

This, of course means you need an iLink port on your computer (or a card slot that will take a firewire card).

Thanks for the info! 

Seems a bit of backwards thinking by Sony!  I would have expected them to be ahead of the curve, not behind it!

Must check my PC Ports!
