I have inherited a Bravia 32V5810 which had a peculiar problem - Everything was working fine, until one day out of the blue I turned it on and the screen remained dark, the volume was up full whack (tuned to a random channel) and neither the remote or the buttons on the unit will work (the light on the front flashes, but it changes nothing)
I wondered what the problem was, and as it was tuned to a channel, I thought it was fixable, at which point i put it back in the box and forgot about it for a while!!
I called a repair guys the other day, and he had heard of the exact problem, looked up the solution, and it apparently is a firmware update. I have downloaded the firmware from the sony site, but how can I update the firmware without the remote having any effect??
Will it automatically recognise the .upd file on the usb stick and use it?
