KDL40NX803 Remote control just "died"!

Strangest thing, but the remote, which I don't use much as I control the TV and STB via the STB's paired remote.

Occasionally during an evenings viewing, because the TV hasn't detected any "commands" for the pre set time, it threatens to switch off!!

My usual response to this is to just press the little "Audio" button alongside the Programme rocker switch, which re-sets the timer without changing anything else.

the other evening, having used this ploy successfully maybe an hour or so before shutting down for the night, I switched off the STB with its dedicated r/c, and attempted to switch off the TV with its own r/c but it was dead!

I thought "Batteries!"; but no, tried several charged sets all of which had no effect.

In the morning I fitted a freshly charged pair of AAA's, and ...dead!

Having figured out how to remove the slider which covers the battery compartment, and importantly, the screws which allow access to the internals of the Remote unit, I'm seeking advice from others who's knowledge exceeds my own in this regard!

Anyone able to help?

Thanks.

Hi @theracles

The original remotes would be over 13 odd years old, so I would be surprised if you found an original. You never know.

@LightFoot Really!

Seems like a bargain, where from?

Is it original or refurbished by Unknown?

Doh! as Homer Simpson would say!

Never thought of the big A, however, I did find several sources once I engaged brain and Googled!

Prices varied wildly and spurred me on with nowt to loose I sallied forth and took the dratted thing to bits!

Respect to Sony, never in the field of technological development have so many "bits" been deployed to save one from walking across the room and pushing buttons!

cleaned every microscopic component with WD40 and re assembled.

Waddaya know, It works!

renamed it Lazarus!😁
