Should i be worried, apparently complaints are comming in already for this new tv on dark verticle lines either side of the screen!, i have seen this before on the LG i had that went back for a full refund as it was the area where the ribbon cable joins at the screen for the backlight (could be seen from the front) i had 3 of them and the engineer said its not right, heres the pics of the Sony.

Edited links to work properly (originally double http)
lets face it stuff like this doesn't inspire confidence in Sonys TV business:
does any of this explain why they've made the kind of mistakes you wouldn't expect from such a brand ? possibly....cutting costs to compete with the likes of LG? maybe.
Problem is if the competition do it better and cheaper then you make the mistakes that have been made with the HX923 range its game over.
the HX923 is off my shopping list now. refund safely back in the bank.
contenders are now:
LG 980T 55"
Philips 9606 52"
Loewe Compose 55" Individual (long shot as very pricey)
southernsmoggy,
yes i saw that link also yesterday and its shocking to say the least, sorry to hear you have had enough now and are contemplating a switch to one of three brands, the last two personally i would not bother with so that leaves the LG, and as i've already said i hope they sorted the motion problem, as for design its very nice, stay in touch my friend.
regards.
just wondering , if you guys with replacement sets, got the compensation glasses?.
or has the compensation offer, gone the same way as the build quality and customer service?.
bign55,
morning,
the answer to your post lies two thirds of the way down on page six of this thread with a post from StartTheCar on the arrangement to get your glasses!
hope that helps.
Yes I think the oled's will have loads of teething problems and will take a few years to settle down and become cheaper!
Can't wait for some reviews of the LG to filter through - hopefully they will NOT exhibit 'un-uniformity'!
This bit of Sony's statement bothers me:
All shipped products have passed our internal quality test and such un-uniformity is within the specification.
Do they have a specification for un-uniformity? Does this mean the TVs, being within the specification, are un-uniform? If all shipped products have passed their internal QA then why are they asking for them to be sent back?
If it were my company and someone deliberatley designed a un-uniform TV I would fire them. How could Sony think this is acceptable?
i think its fair to say whoever designed the build process for the HX923 series is probably not expecting a great rating from the line manager at the next annual performance review meeting
Sony should have employed the guys that built the Pioneer displays then the "un uniformity" would have been replaced with " sheer perfection",
Sony should find these people and employ them before they dig their hole any deeper!
Could the guys at Sony please investigate why the HX923 will not display some JPEG format photos via a LAN, but does so perfectly when the same Sony PC is connected to the set via an Amp. and an HDMI input. The photos are all in the same format, and all display the thumbnails correctly, using the LAN, but some display the message "Playback not available", while others are fine. The iManual mentions that this may happen but offers no reason...
This has been noted by myself and others on the AV Sony forum and the AV LCD TV's forum.
A reply and a possible software update from Sony would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
I am one of the owners who just love this TV, btw.
Any software update would have been done if the tv is connected to the net!,
as for the sarcastic remark about loving the tv, so would the rest of us if we had a fault free one as you probably did!
