Hello, i am having a problem with my CPU usage. When my laptop is idol the cpu usage is at 2-4% which is normal. As soon as i swith my WLAN button to on at the front of my laptop the cpu usage jumps to 100%. The whole system then just drags along. I am still able to connect to the internet etc it is just incredibly slow.
When i look at the task manager to see what programs are using the cpu the main one is the system idol process which flicks wildly from 50-98%. (although the cpu usage never drops below 90%). The next few processes flick around so quickly i can't read what they are.
I have ran several anti virus and spyware programs but nothing is detected.
Would greatly appreciate any sugestions as to what could be causing this.
Thanks
Hi susy123,
welcome to Club Vaio..
You can ignore system idle process because if the CPU usage is high it basicly means your computer is doing nothing...
Enter Windows Task Manager
press and hold the Ctrl & Alt keys & then press the Delete Key.
Then select Start Task Manager..
Select the Process tab.
Click show all processes from all users
Click CPU and scroll to the bottom of the process list, this may help to identify which process has the highest CPU usage..
The next few processes flick around so quickly i can't read what they are
