I've had this PC for coming up fours years now. It's always run hot and the fan has often run hard for extended periods. About 9 months ago I cleaned the vent out and it run a fair bit quieter but still hot. The fan recently stopped working. The fan was replaced and new thermal paste applied having cleaned of the old paste. The unit still runs hot and continues to shut down but runs for a bit longer. The fan no longer varies it's speed. I have done a BIOS update I found suitable for this model.
I am now looking for a fan utility that can control the fan speed. I have tried fanspeed but that doesn't seem to be able to control the fan on this model. Is there anything I can do to reduce the heat being generated by the CPU. I would also like to know if I can uninstall the BD driver as it no longer plays BD's ( OK with DVD's) and then re install it just in case tthe program is corrupted.
Is there soem other reason the unit rusn so hot
