How to enable VT-x/AMD-V in the BIOS?

Hello,

I recently downloaded Virtualbox so I could test Windows 8 Without getting rid of my current OS Windows 7 Professional. I tried both 32 and 64 bit, and with the 32 bit I got the following Message:

VT-x/AMD-V hardware acceleration has been enabled, but is not operational. Certain guests (e.g. OS/2 and QNX) require this feature.

Please ensure that you have enabled VT-x/AMD-V properly in the BIOS of your host computer.

I was wondering if there is a way to enable VT-x/AMD-V in the BIOS (as I know my vaio uses insydeH2O BIOS), as I couldn't find an option to enable it?

Thanks

Hi spykas,

Without knowing your Vaio model this is difficult to answer and the Sony Technical department do not answer questions on this user community – if you require official support then contact Sony support directly.

Sony has released a BIOS update for some models that will allow enabling of VT if the CPU supports this. However even if this update is available for your model there is no guarantee that the CPU supports it.

If in doubt you can download the Intel® Processor Identification Utility, which can be found here: http://www.intel.com/support/processors/tools/piu/sb/CS-014921.htm

If there is a BIOS upgrade available it will be found on the supports site.
