I'm trying to increase the ram on my vgn-n38zw laptop beyond 2gb up to 4gb. Is there a way to do this or a bios upgrade that'll let me do this. I'm running Win 7 Ult in 32bit guise.

unfortunately not as I believe your vaio only supports a maximum of 1GB per slot..:smileysad:

Not possible as far as I know.

All the specifications say Max 1GB per memory slot.

Hi Supertroll,

The maximum memory supported by your model is 1GB per slot, hence 2GB.

This is a limitation of the motherboard/chipset architecture and a BIOS update will make no difference.

The machine may or may not boot with the additional memory but the chances are, that if it does, only 2GB will be recognised.

Thanks for that, serious pain in the but, but that confirms all I'd found as well. Just hoping that with a different O/S it might see more. Ho Hum.
