Misused recovery centre and in big trouble!

Hey, I'm not a total computer novice and have heard people talking about 'wiping' their laptops to speed them up, which usually comes with the phrase 'reinstalling windows'. So I decided since my laptop was running slow I would do this. I used Vaio Recovery centre and thought it was the option 'erase and wipe', to clear C Drive to the way it was when I bought it. So created the two recovery disks and continued on to wipe the drive. But then the computer just starts with 'no os found', when I put the 1st recovery disk in it loads and comes up asking what os I would like to work with, none are there because there doesn't seem to be an os on the computer anymore, there is an option to load drivers but have no idea what that'll do. If I click next it opens options to open command promt, and restore C drive, and restore entire computer but these just come up with errors. Have I lost my operating system? Do I need to buy windows vista? Or are my disks not doing what they should, or am I using them wrong?

I did think an old recovery disk, that I thought was my first set from when I purchased the laptop, but has installed my old Advents version of vista, but the product key says its invalid. Is there any way of using this os system in some way with the recovery disks to get back my vaio settings?

I'm totally lost, was a big mistake to even attempt to fix my computer!!

Hi scosmith4,

welcome to Questions & Answers..:smileyhappy:

What model Vaio do you have as the process can vary slightly.:smileyconfused:

However in the meantime you could also try this..

Remove the recovery disc's you created from your Vaio CD/DVD drive.

Restart your vaio and when you see the Vaio logo press the F10 key repeatedly..

This should start the recovery process using the hidden HDD recovery partition.

Then follow the recovery instructions to complete the process
