Problem with Windows 8 driver

After switching to Win 8, I keep receiving error message that I need to install mfc110u.dll. My VAIO model is Z series VPCZ227GG. Appreciate advice how to resolve this.

Was this a clean install of Windows 8 or a migration?


Only a migration is supported for European models but as this is not a European model I am unsure whether it is fully support by Sony for upgrading to Win 8. You will need to check the support site in the region of purchase for any available Win 8 drivers and utilities as I suspect the missing dll may be connected with either Vaio Update or Vaio Care.

I've got the same problem with my Vaio S.

This was an upgrade from Win 7 Pro to Win 8 Pro.


VUDesktopToast.exe is missing mfc110u.dll


I found plenty of other instances of people with Vaios with the same problem when I googled it. One suggested resolution was to use this: http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?mfc110u


but I'm not sure this site is trustworthy...so was hoping there'd be an update available from Sony.
