Hello to all,
I have a new(6 month old) sony vaio vgn-n38e running on vista home premium.
The notebook has been working fine untill about 2 weeks ago. Now when ever I put a dvd film into the drive, I get 'windows host process (rundll32) has stopped working' message. Also 'windows explorer' shuts down and restarts.
I can still play the dvd, and all appears ok, but the message and windows shutdown is worrying.
The only things I have downloaded recently were 1) windows update from microsoft 2) sony update from club vaio (If I remember correctly this update did have something to do with sony media, but I may be wrong)
Do any of you guys out there have any ideas? I tried googling the problem and got many links but none identical to my problem.
regards and thanks
Peter
Can you use the driver to play music either, or to transfer data files to any CD / DVD the problem persist ?
Thanks for your reply itbroker, Ive been away and appologise for my late reply.
I have never used the drive to write discs but it plays music and films ok.
The problem lasted for 7 to 10 days and then disappeared as quickly as it appeared? All seems to be ok now but I will keep my fingers crossed.
Regards
Peter
Okidoki. Case Closed.
