Wake on LAN in SZ61WN notebook - hidden or doesn't work?

I'd really like to get Wake on LAN working on my Sony SZ, but it appears to be hidden (or disabled) in the BIOS. Does this mean that it will never work? Is there an third-party alternative way of getting it to function? Would I have to tweak the BIOS or worse?

I would really like to know, because this will affect my working at office/home patterns.

Best wishes, Mark

Hi Mark and welcome to Club Vaio.

You will need to check that your Network Card supports Wake on LAN. Have a look at your Eternet Adapter and your Wireless Adapter in Device Manager, look at their Properties and look under the Power Management and Advanced Property Tabs for the "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" or "Wake Up on ARP/PING". I am not sure if this facility is available on laptops as they don't have a full PCI Network Card with a WOL 3-pin connector.

Unless your Network Card supports WOL, you have a problem. If WOL is supported, have a look at this: -
