Windows 7

I have a a Vaio TX5XN which is VERY slow under VISTA (in spite of all the improvements, fine-tuning and other chnages suggested in this forum).

Will Window 7 help ?

Can I install the "candidate-release" on my machine .

As it is still the RC1 release it will be safer to wait for the full release as bugs are still being sorted (although this release seems to be fairly stable).

The RC1 version is only for evaluation and will 'Time Out' and become invalid after launch of the full version.

Interesting. Can you quantify how faster ?

i have not done any benchmark tests,

in general it was most things,

the install was quick and easy and without problem. i also didnt have to search for drivers to get the main things working (but my Fn keys are still not working)

The boot time from a cold start is quicker and when logged in i dont have the sluggish time as things load up as i did with Vista.

another area that is better for me is the sleep and hibernation, it works correctly and it works well. i also seam to be getting more battery life, i think its down to the screen power management. using Vista, if i knew i was not going to use my laptop that evening i would turn it off as it would be dead in the morning, now i only turn it off to reboot as it alway seams to have power.

Thank you very much.
I'll try.
