I have several of these walkman devices, a couple have gone back to the retailer too. There is clearly an issue with these, which is that once the walkman is discharged, it simply will NOT charge again.
If there is no remaining charge in the device, once you plug it into the usb to charge it, the device is not recognised and the red charging light will not come on. No matter how long this is left plugged in, the device will NOT charge. I've tried this on three different computers with different operating systems, if i plug a charged unit into a cradle, it works. If I plug a discharged unit in, it will not charge.
This is clearly either a design or a software flaw Sony. How do you charge a fully discharged NWZ-W27? And please, no toothbrush cleaning hints :S
