Feedback: Lollipop on Z3 / Z3 Compact

Hi there,

i would be great if ther we're a central discussion / feedback thread for Lollipop on our lovely Z3 / Z3C!

XDA Thread: Lollipop Is Rolling Out, What's Your Impression? List Bugs Here

Here are some points i noticed:

- No Access to Settings for toggles directly via Quick Setings (only WLAN/Bluetooth) as before.

- No cleaning all apps with single button in last apps.

- No option to deny WLAN AP to connect, if they dont serve internet on Z3C (it seems the Z3 on 4.4 have it)

First impression and "nice" findings from latest 4.4.x to 5.02 with OTA update.

1. after update battery drain problem (phone was fully encrypted with 64GB SD) nice time consuming process to build everything up again from full backup, reset, full restore and new encrypt.

2. Since xperia with 4.0 used to have NovaLauncer interface - now I gave it a shot to Lollipop itself. Made customizations etc. - lets say "usable". Was happy until point nr. 3

3. Wanted to test Ultra Stamina mode - after activating and deactivating ultra stamina: My home screen was empty from every widget and some app shortcuts, all disabled apps were enabled and running again. Nice! With 4.4.x ultra stamina worked like it should...

I've been using Ericsson, SonyEriccson and Sony since "smarter phones" R380, P910, X1, Every possible letter beside xperia, but my next device is windows phone - enough of this android sh*t, every day I have to be a support person for my own android devices :(.

I'm also having severe battery drain issues as well -- I'm getting only about 1/3 what I was while on KitKat.

My NFC firmware also failed to update, disabling my NFC capabilities.  NFC worked on KitKat, even though I left it disabled due to lack of use and to help extend battery life.

And while it is not Sony's fault, I really despise the loss of lockscreen widgets.  I figured out how to create a persistent notification so I can see current weather conditions on my lockscreen, but I would very much prefer having a widget there instead of the lame clocks offered.

I, too, am considering leaving Sony specifically and Android generally over these and other issues.  This would be a shame, since I've been on Android for six years and had previously admired Sony phones.

Feedback to update to Lollipop:
1) 30% of calls is impossible to realize: either frozen during started calling or not connect at all
2) During call very loud creaking noise which makes this phone useless since I do not hear the counterparts at all!

Updated yesterday via OTA (from Italy). Works well exept for the annoying fact that is always warm.

I mean, with kitkat it almost never became hot, and never without using apps like games or similar; now is hot after five minutes of messaging.
I thought yesterday that it was due the update that used many resources, but now it should be doing nothing and I also tried to reboot the phone several times. :S

Also the "Ok Google" on every screen/Radio FM incompatibility was not resolved.

Hi, I've faced problem under lollipop with lifelog app. Keeps the device awake almost all the time. The power consumption was twice as the display, so currently is disabled.
Needs upgrade to work with lollipop as well.

Hello, I upgraded my z3c from 4.4.4 to 5.02 ( as usual...for the most major releases... one step forward and 1 and a half backward!! )

I don't know if already posted in other threads but:

There are some bugs and malfunction that are inside the 5.0, I know, but... why a producer, when arrange the upgrade of a SW with the own personalization, is not able to keep what they did till that time, but loose some parts of previous options everytime (not sony only, I know)

The first "operative" defects imho are the following:

- List of app open missed the close all button (I have to close one at time??)

- Widget of calendar missing in lock screen (only clock!!) for me was useful because I used to see the status of the calendar without unlock the phone

- I like to keep the multicolor xperia theme on the lock screen but have an image on the home screen but i'm not able, I mean ,. the option animated background is available only on "home" and "home and lock screen" settings not in lock screen....

- Other producer (samsung) have unlocked the notification volume level from the ringer volume slider....

- Increased instability when connected to home WiFi (with 4.4.4 was really fast and stable)

- Some people told me that the volume of my microphone during call is decreased since 4.4.4...

Hey,

yesterday I updated my Z3 Compact, and there are quite a few things that really make me hate my phone at the moment...

1. Head-Up notifications: Is there a way to turn them off? When reading a text on a website it is really unpractical if notifications pop u at the top of the screen.. Additionally, the screen automatically gets darker when a notification pops up.

2. Lock-screen part 1: When Listening to music, it automatically shows the album cover (now let's say you lusten to slayer.. their album covers ar enot really discrete...)

3. Lock-screen part 2: You need 2 or even 3 steps to unlock the screen... Is it possible to just ask for the pin instead instead of swiping + pin?

4. Lock-screen part 3: When unlocking the phone it is always freezing for a second...

5. Design: ... Please tell me there's a design that simulates the kitkat-layout.

6. General question: Is there an easy possibility to go back to kitkat? To be honest, there is not a single thing I enjoy about the new update.

The new alarm clock is painful to use, since you always end up pushing buttons you never intended to push, texting people is a pain because of the double-unlocking system and finally the new design is just not my thing... (yes I tried other designs, but the color in which text is marked while typing is always pretty ugly to look at... orange, pink, grass green...)

You can download different home launchers and lockscreens if you miss kitkat

No, no way to fix your and our problems. The Best solution is the downgrade.
After upgrade more options are deleted. The popup notifications are like ads and isn't possible recive them like old version kitekat operating system, you can only disable totally from notifications apps settings. For text keyboard imput you can change only Phone themes...Pink is not ok.
