Speakerphone in call uses only 1 speaker!

Hello.

While in a call using the speakerphone, the Z2 uses only the bottom speaker to deliver the voice.

This makes the conversation ridiculously low, esp while driving with ambient noise.

Anyone else, please tst it out to confirm my observation. Other uses in a local forum are experiencing this as well. I hope Sony accepts my feedback.

Thanks!

I confirm, here`s the same thing. Walkman sounds, screen tap sounds, ringtone select menu, volume  menu are ok, sounds on both speakers. Z2 D6503 from Taiwan.

Sony, fix that, please! I bought it generally because of the 2 stereo speakers, but works in incoming calls only one.

I also realized that the top speaker is relatively softer than the bottom speaker when playing music etc. are u also having the same problem?

Thanks for the feedback!

I'm not sure but i think this may be related to the top speaker being close to the top microphone which is used for speakerphone but i will forward this internally.

I got more information about this and the reason that the top speaker is not being used for speaker phone is to reduce the risk of echo.

Hi Rickard,

I appreciate the information you have for us.

However, it is a problem nevertheless. If echos are being prevented, it probably means mono sound is not driven equally over the 2 speakers in the first place.

Even if a single speaker is being used, I think it has to be amplified alot more than it is now. One of Z2's core features is that it has stereo speakers, but it's pretty sad to know that a fundemental ringtone/speakerphone loudness is lacking.

I had a chance to try out the S5 for a week and its single speaker is a lot more louder.

I have passed on my Z2 to someone else and I'm keeping an eye on these forums because I think the phone has alot of potential and I might get another if things get better. Relevant firmware fixes could help alot.

Thanks for keeping in touch and I hope you drive this issue to the relevant guys. There's another thread that discusses low ringtone volume as well, so it's not an isolated issue.

Thanks!

this is not accepted by any user who bought xperia Z2. being advertised having stereo speakers built in.. but not used for ringtines its very pathertic.. my ages old W995 has stereo speakers that use both speakers for ringtones and speakerphone and never faced any issues after using it for more than 2yrs..

i really call this behavior as bug or poor idea and badly wanted this to be fixed. no nokia or HTC phones are doing this bad idea.

so pls raise a flag and advice the technical team to fix this.. if any safety issues with it u guys have to handle it different way, like menu option to use both spekers for ringtone.. do pls take this request on behalf of all the Z2 owners.

Was there a reply to your situation of top speaker being softer than the bottom speaker already?

I have not got any information about the top speaker being more soft yet.

But as the top speaker is meant to be held very closely to the ear it may be calibrated differently.

Well old nokias didn't have the noise cancelling mic near the speaker did they.
My Z2 works somehow with both speakers calling, and no echo in the calls (14W13, 6503 CZ,SK,PL)
Maybe a market settings issue, like different sets inside the boxes for india, germany, GB ?
