if you'd settle down stop bitching about Sony and just explain the problem you're having someone here might actually be able to help you

could you just explain as briefly as you can what the exact issue is  - is your auto brightness not working ?

First of all it is not bitching or trolling. So no need to bitching me instead. The issue I already posted above.
Autobrightness isn't working after wired long reboot. In addition, the back light from screen won't turn off as few ppl. has experienced this bug.(even you push the off button) so I tried to turn off auto brightness option, and swipe it to lv1(min brightness) .When I turn on the auto brightness again and try to wake up the phone by pressing on/off from stand by, u can barely see anything on screen, but I am pretty sure the phone can bypass the lock screen.which means , system still running but screen back light is off.

Mine Z1 just suddenly turned OFF, Tried to turn it ON but it didn't. I just opened the SIM card slot and pressed a small reset key provided. Waited for two mins and pressed the power ON key and Hurry  . . . Its agian working fine Slightly_smiling_Face

as I have already explained to you above - the auto brightness scale is dependant on the position of the brightness level slider control setting brfore you activate it - so that's that one sorted

As for the other issue it's a known bug - keep the auto backlight enabled/ticked in display settings - that should sort that one until there's a FW bug fix for it

hope this helps

Hi,

Had my Z1 a little over a week now and three times I've had this problem.

Basically, when I try to unlock my phone all I get is a black screen, if you look closely enough you can see a few things but its like the brightness has been turned down/off. I can unlock it because I know where the keys for my pin are however I still can't turn up the brightness manually.

Each time I've had to use the little red reset button and its getting kind of annoying now as its a new phone.

Also once the camera crashed and another time just the front camera wouldnt work.

Any help would be appreciated as my network are taking the mick.

Regards

My phone is barely a week old and I all of a sudden had this problem today! It started happening when I put xreality off, turned on low battery mode and also turned on location based wi-if. The brightness level is full and the adapt to lighting conditions is set on.

Its sad because the phone is just AMAZING, and such a prevalent bug and there is not update even after so many users are affected by it Slightly_frowning_Face

The problem is all over the internet and youtube.

For now what works for MOST user is pressing the volume up button and the power button until the phone vibrates and the n starting the phone up again! Hoping sony will release a patch soon!!

Happened to me the very same way some minutes ago (happened to me many times too, many of us actually). This is a bug for sure. I'm sure they are aware of it already.

Before the update it was at 100% connected to the bootloader catching some random BT devices trying to connect, not it is just random. And yes, it steps out with the volume button.

At least we know how to fix it ourselves, but there is another update coming, the major one this time. I believe it will be fixed.

There is nothing wrong with the phone anyway, it runs great once it starts so if we know it is good enough to wait a little while for the fix. At lest we know how to avoid this problem. It happens.. my one is almost a month old and unfortunately I was one of the very first who found this problem.

There will be a fix soon. Phone was kinda rushed, everyone wanted the famous Honami, would of burn Sony alive if they don't release it. Perhaps that was the price, we forced kinda them to release the firmware "only" 99.9% tested. Not that this is our fault of any kind, but there is no black or white with this. It pisses me off too, but we have to wait a while longer, they didn't know.

Stuff to do to get the screen back on:

1. Plugging it in the charger will light up the screen

2. Resetting the phone by power button + volume up for a few seconds reboots the phone

3. Updating and restoring your phone using SUS works

4. Updating the software if you're lucky to version .534 makes it better - But using your phone to update the software might be slower since it's not refreshed as fast in my experience. I had to use the computer to search for updates and update via computer to find out there was an update for the Z1

5. Album to view pictures is also affected as well , by becoming blank when flipping through pictures. Previous method above works, but I cleared it up Settings > Apps > All > Album > "Clear Data" + "Clear cache", rebooted the phone and that seemed to help.

Yes, it's all very annoying.

No, I can't return the phone b/c in Taiwan....they don't allow returns even within 7 days, only shipped back to Sony for repair/maintenance within 1 year. Don't try to understand why....that's just the way it is.

Thanks a lot for your post !

I just had my first dead screen (unfortunately) after a screen unlock; and power button + volume up did the trick.

I'll PM sony the details.
