Yes, I've tried to longpress network name as suggested (2012...). I have also tried the'Private DNS automatic' setting with no success. Please advise.

Hi @Hamnsten ;
When connected to the WiFi network go to cog wheel to the right of network name>pencil on top right of screen>advanced>DHCP>static.

Ok, following your procedure I do indeed see the dns settings, - but they are greyed out. And although I am able to enter/overtype new values the 'save' option is also greyed out so they can not be saved. It seems I am almost there but something is still missing...?
Normally the "Save" option is greyed out if you are missing some values or inserting a format not valid, to be honest I knew they were inserted like that but I never changed them, however I tried change the DNS values for the WiFi network that I am conected at the moment and when I inserted a correct IP address the "Save" option changed from greyed out to the acceptable blue.
Try checking if the values you are using are the correct ones and you are not missing on anything.
NunoSEN2, I appreciate your efforts to resolve this!
I did a little test to verify what items in the dns static can be changed, (ie that makes the save option change from grey to blue to enable a sucessful save). I did for each item overtype the existing value with itself (overtyping back the existing value). Result:
Ip address 192.168.0.129- sucess (save turns blue)
Gateway 192.168.1.1 - fails
Prefix length 24 - fails
Dns1 8.8.8.8 - fails
Dns2 8.8.4.4 - fails
In summary: the only change allowed seems to be ip address.
Are you able to enter the google dns values I used with success?
Hi @Hamnsten;
I think it all depends of you inserting correct and allowed values for the Wifi network that you are connected, when I insert a correct IP address for the Wifi network that I am connected at the time (you can obtain that IP address going to>cog wheel to the right of the WiFi network that you are connected>Advanced>Value to the right of DNS) the remain values (Gateway, Prefix lenght) are auto filled and I can insert the DNS values that I want that the "Save" turns blue.
NunoSEN2, you are correct. I am now able to set the dns value successfully, by following this procedure:
First set dhcp to static and overtype the (same) current value. The connection is restarted
(this is a continuation of the previous post which I posted incomplete by accident - sorry)
.. by automation, the Android 9 system initiates this.
And now there is a sigificant change: when I now do edit-advanced the dns1 value now shows in black (not gray as before) and I am indeed able to set and save a new dns1 value.
I am puzzled by this behaviour of the system (that I have to fake an update to the ip address to enable a change of the DNS value) , it is weird and most non-intuitive...
But nevertheless, NunoSEN2, I owe you A BIG THANK YOU for your knowledge, patience and determination that helped me resolv this challenge!
