NFC Signal Area

Today i found out that using NFC on the Xperia XZ is quite a pain. The location of the NFC antenna might be OK for pairing Bluetooth devices. However if you want to use it for Android beam or mobile payment it's quite difficult as you have to hold the phones screen towards the other device. You simply can't see what's happening. Is there any way to increase the range of the NFC Signal?

I don't think that's possible but maybe @uliwooly or @Viridis or @Quester know more.

No, unfortunately near field output is limited to almost direct contact due to the nature of the services it enables.
I believe the near field on the front serves two purposes,
1, easier use for payments in relation to Fingerprint scanner.
Unlike others, can be held in normal position whilst paying and using print scanner.
2, the metal back reflects NFC signals so connection issues would arise.

Unfortunately, there is no way to boost the signal that I'm aware of.

Thank you for your reply. I was testing the NFC Signal on the Xperia X on which it worked both ways. That's why I was hoping it would be the same on the XZ.
I can not see how the location on the front is helpful for payment. I tried it today with the German °Payback system which works via NFC. I had to hold the XZ with the Display facing the payment terminal. Unfortunately I couldn't follow the instructions on the screen at the same time. That's why I wasn't able to pay with the XZ.

Hi...NFC standards cover communications protocols and data exchange formats, and are based on existing RFID standards including ISO/IEC 18092 and those defined by the NFC Forum. NFC operates on the unlicensed RF ISM band at 13.56 MHz. Data rates range from 106 to 424 kbit/s. Theoretical distance is 20cm, most practical is 10cm, but most users “touch”. For more information.
