Went to buy the new XZ today but couldn't find phonepad text input for European languages. Only available for Chinese. Why does Sony do this kind of thing to loyal customers? Will stick to my current Xperia or wait and see if there will be an update. This same thing happened with the Z1 until there was an update.

That's because we have large smartphones now with Qwerty keyboards. Why limit yourself to the pre-smartphone era way of doing things? Multitap keyboards have rightfully gone the way of the dodo. Heck I even had a physical Qwerty keyboard on my Sony Ericsson P1i a million years ago and haven't used T9 since the old pre-N Series Nokias a billion years ago.

Hi @Ninni1, I'm sorry you aren't able to find a suitable keyboard.

I did a quick search in the Google Play Store and found this app, it seems to have a decent score and many installs, is it worth a try? I know there are quite a few T9 keyboard variants available in Google Play, but I understand that it's inconvenient to search for it. I wish you will find one which suits you.

Please note that I can not provide support for any third party apps. I have not tried the app I suggested myself so I am sorry if it is not up to par to your expectations.

Thank you. But I don't want to pay for it because it's not like that one Sony had. I'm really disappointed with my XZ.
Should have bought Samsung Galaxy S7 or Huawei Honor 8 instead because Sony doesn't have what I want anymore. I had Ericsson, Sony Ericsson and now Sony but I will buy another brand next time.
The "tap to wake" doesn't work at all and it's driving me crazy! And to type on this small qwerty with one finger is horrible! qwerty is meant to be used with all of your fingers in the right position, not with one or two fingers! I can easily type fast without looking when I'm typing on the computer (my fingers know where the letters are!) Going back with the phone tomorrow!

I used GO Keyboard Lite. You can change the key layout to T9. This has always my go to keyboard I use for any anroid brand phones.

I'm sorry, I did not notice that it had a price tag on it. In any case, there should be many free alternatives in Google Play, but I understand it is way more convenient to have a T9 Keyboard out of the box with the device. I will make sure to forward it as user feedback!

Yes, please, do what you can to give us back the Xperia keyboard! Other keyboards have a small vocabulary in Swedish.

Most keyboards, such as SwiftKey, will get used to the way you type and add words which you frequently use to the suggested words and auto-corrections. If you have some patience with it I'm sure that your experience will be more enjoyable!

Swiftkey doesn't have T9!

The qwerty keyboard is made for to use ALL your fingers in the RIGHT POSITION, for exampel on the computer. I can type on the computer without looking, "it's in my fingers", had a work were I was typing all day. I don't know where the letters are when I'm typing on the phone with only one or two fingers! I have tried qwerty on the phone for MONTHS now and I'm NOT getting any faster! It's just annoying!

Swiftkey are making crazy words up so I always have to check word by word before I send a text. Sent way too many crazy texts with Swiftkey! Can't even think of to be on a chat for hours with Swiftkey!

I need Xperia keyboard! (Not only me)

PS. Sony can still put other (useless, at least for me) apps in the phones like Hangouts, AVG Protection, Google Play Movies, Google Play Music, Lifelog, Xperia Lounge, News Suite, PlayStation App, Skiss BUT NOT Xperia keyboard! Ehh....?
