Hello,I have the new XZ model and since last week I have strange problem with the display when making a call. The display goes black and nothing can. make it active, I even cannot close the ringing until the operator stops or something suddenly happens. It happens from time to time. I don't have protector to think this can make that problem. I checked the proximity sensor and it works. The version of the android is the last 7.0. I appreciate your help.
I have got the same issue, was great when it was on noga 7.0 but after the last 2 software updates the phone becomes soooo laggy and battery drains really fast.. Any help please? I got done with waiting while traveling between apps running
Hello @jimi833 / Jake-SonyXperiaSupport,
I have also started to face the problem of the black screen during calls after updating to 7.1.1. The Light sensor test passes but the ear proximity test fails. Also in the safe mode.
But my phone has also been going to the service centre multiple times for connector issues and am wondering if the issue is hardware or software related. How could I isolate the issue? I really dont want to reset the phone once again or send it to the service centre. But if I should, i would rather do it now then another 15 days later.
Plesae help.
Best regards.
PS: The temporary solution is a life saver.
I have been having this problem for about three weeks on a phone that is only three months old, tried everything on this forum to no avail. Sent the phone away for repair to be told that it isn't covered by the warranty as the phone is bent. This was classed as damage. I suggest anyone having this problem lays the phone on a flat surface and checks to see if it rocks. I believe this is a manufacturing problem as I recall a friend of my son having a Sony phone a few years ago that was bent. Fortunately for him it didn't cause any problems.
Hi,
I do have this issue on my Xperia XZ (CDA: 1305-5169) since the update of 41.3.A.2.99-R3E last 3 weeks ago. And, 3 days ago, the release of 41.3.A.2.107-R3E does not fix the issue as well. I did a firmware repair through XC, but didn't fix at all. Will this caused by faulty proximity sensor? If not, is there any way to resolve this issue?
Hereby attached 2 pictures which I performed the diagnose from the Support Tools.
Please advise.

This issue seemed to occur for me sometime after getting the screen replaced. I have found putting a quite a bit of pressure on the top right corner seems bring the screen back from black. Sometimes also need to press the power button.
