If you compare the size of the devices, there isn't that much of a difference between the Xperia XZ1 Compact and the Xperia XZ2 Compact.

Xperia XZ1 Compact:

Size: 129 × 65 × 9.3 mm
Weight: 143 g

Xperia XZ2 Compact:

Size: 135 × 65 × 12.1 mm
Weight: 168 g

On the Xperia XZ2 Compact you get Full HD (1080) compared to 720 on the Xperia XZ1 Compact, so the 6 mm in height is worth it, in my opinion at least.

Regarding a totally new Compact model, I have no information about this, but all news will be posted on our product blog
