No sound from text message xperia z3 lollipop

Hi, since the z3 update to lollipop I no longer get a text sound if I leave open the text message app. I've been through every setting and downloaded other message apps but no fix. I've also reformatted the phone and deleted any 3rd party apps. My sd card is in good condition so I'm thinking this could be an oversight with lollipop. Does anyone know if this is the case?

It has been asked before,please use the search button before creating new threads. This is how the message app works now.

One user suggested evolve SMS app as a workaround.
