Every day is Earth Day!

At the core of Sony’s value system is filling people’s hearts with emotion and building a better world. To do so, we must protect the health of our society and planet – and these are just some of the ways we are working to fulfil our environmental responsibilities and contribute through our technology.

BRAVIA XR TVs can help reduce your energy consumption by up to 32%*

The new Eco Dashboard allows you to manage all your energy settings from one place and visualise the contribution you are making to reduce environmental impact – and it’s so easy! In fact, many of our energy-saving features are intuitive; for instance, with BRAVIA CAM, the screen can be automatically dimmed when there is nobody in front of the TV.

More sustainable audio

Many of our soundbars, speakers, and headphones now utilise recycled plastics – you may have seen recent LinkBuds S promotions showing how they are made from water dispensers! The material chosen for a product particularly affects sound quality, so we have spent years developing our unique recycled plastic (SORPLAS) that is both environmentally conscious and conducive to creating high-quality audio products.

Cameras that capture our environmental vision

The ZV-1 Vlog Camera is an excellent example of a camera paving the way for more sustainable creation. Not only does it utilise our SORPLAS recycled plastic, the windscreen is made from recycled polyester, the packaging uses paper and plant-based non-woven fabric, we’re working only with our Green Partners that use non or less harmful chemical materials, and 100% renewable energy is used during production.

100% paper packaging

You’ll notice more Sony products now use plastic-free packaging, including our flagship 1000X Series headphones. Whilst most paper products come from mature perennial trees, our Original Blended Material uses plants with a short growth cycle, such as bamboo and sugarcane. Production from plants with a short growth cycle generates less CO2 as they can be grown, sorted, and harvested as needed, compared to the logging and life-cycle care for perennials. Furthermore, our packaging is completely recyclable too!

Keep an eye out for plenty more to come, and join us on the Road to Zero, as we work toward a zero environmental footprint.

* When Idle TV power off is On, Light sensor is On, and Power saving is High. Function names vary among models.
