2015 Bravia Android TV Issues

I thought I'd create a generic thread to cover off the issues being encountered on the 2015 Bravia Android TVs. I've listed my issues below with fixes / workarounds and responses from support. All comments and solutions welcome!

 

 

1) Hot Swap HDMI doesn't work - manifested by no input on HDMI channels 2, 3 and 4 on the KD-49X8305C. Workaround - reset the TV, either by holding down the remote power button for 5 seconds or by switching the TV off at the wall and then back on again. 2) HDD Recording doesn't work - error message states a system update is required but none is available when checking. Hopefully this will be fixed soon by a firmware update.

 

3) Netflix App doesn't work - this seems like the app has been deliberately disabled. So far a support case has only recommended that a factory reset be performed (took two days to get to that cracking piece of advice.....), with no improvement as a result. 4) Sound lag and performance issues after the TV (KD-49X8305C) has been on standby for a while - manifested for me as stuttering and sound / picture sync issues in all apps (youtube, amazon instant video etc) and HDMI sources (PS4, seperate YouView box etc). Hopefully this will be fixed in a firmware update, at the moment workarounds involve either changing channels to get the sync to work or in my case having to turn the TV off and then on again at the socket.

 

As stated previously, all comments welcome. Personally I'm willing to give Sony a couple of weeks to fix this, but if it's not done soon I'll be sending my new TV back for a refund as it's not really fit for purpose.

Re Update.

 

Tv starts quicker than before, but 15 to 20second delay before soundbar starts up, But soundbar is working now. :slight_smile:

One thing i have noticed, do a full reset after update, its like the tv stores infomation about items connected to it, (like sounbars) and in my case, the sound only started to work correctly after i did the reset, but in all testing since, it has not failed to start, as it did before. \\\\\finger crossed.

 

XXX Porn still not fixed. This supprises me as i think this should have been marked urgent. 😞

Still not fixed after more than 1 year.

To change the behaviour of landing on an Adult channel with the TV/Radio button. Press the button until the Adult channel appears then change channels to a more desirable channel.  Then when the TV/Radio button is pressed instead of the Adult channel, it will go to the one you have selected.

Nope, just tried and it always reverts back to channel 183, Adult XXX. People walking past my house when I tried it seemed surprised I was watching porn at this time in the morning.

I have the same issue with my 65X8505C and the touch remote. I did a reset of the tv and then the remote stop working. I saw the reset tip for the remote control itself i will try . When I contact SONY they send me the documentation on how to pair the remote. But that's not the problem I know how to pair it, it's just doesn't work. A bit disappointed :s

Sony, could you please fix the 5.1 issues and HDMI Sync? We have asked this over and over and still no update on this. 

 

Also, can we please enable to let the forums here stay us signed in? Its annoying as what to have to login over and over everytime you come back here.

Came in tonight, loaded up Amazon Instant, rented a film. Playback with no picture and massively stuttering sound. About 1 minute to play 6 seconds. Abandonded the Tv and now playing it through my PS4.

 

Annoyed.

Anyone having issues with the Android app? I constantly get a message saying remote connected/ remote disconnected all the time. This morning at 6am the TV turned itself on to pair itself with the app. 

Pretty much given up with the TV now. So frustrating.

And still none of the apps can output 5.1?!

i managed to get 5.1 out of the videos app, connected via optical out on the TV
