2015 Bravia Android TV Issues

I thought I'd create a generic thread to cover off the issues being encountered on the 2015 Bravia Android TVs. I've listed my issues below with fixes / workarounds and responses from support. All comments and solutions welcome!

 

 

1) Hot Swap HDMI doesn't work - manifested by no input on HDMI channels 2, 3 and 4 on the KD-49X8305C. Workaround - reset the TV, either by holding down the remote power button for 5 seconds or by switching the TV off at the wall and then back on again. 2) HDD Recording doesn't work - error message states a system update is required but none is available when checking. Hopefully this will be fixed soon by a firmware update.

 

3) Netflix App doesn't work - this seems like the app has been deliberately disabled. So far a support case has only recommended that a factory reset be performed (took two days to get to that cracking piece of advice.....), with no improvement as a result. 4) Sound lag and performance issues after the TV (KD-49X8305C) has been on standby for a while - manifested for me as stuttering and sound / picture sync issues in all apps (youtube, amazon instant video etc) and HDMI sources (PS4, seperate YouView box etc). Hopefully this will be fixed in a firmware update, at the moment workarounds involve either changing channels to get the sync to work or in my case having to turn the TV off and then on again at the socket.

 

As stated previously, all comments welcome. Personally I'm willing to give Sony a couple of weeks to fix this, but if it's not done soon I'll be sending my new TV back for a refund as it's not really fit for purpose.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no change, model is W807c

If all else fails try aa factory reset, skip the tuning though, see if Netflix works and then do the tuning if it does, out of ideas if that doesn't work

It might help with Netflix issues if people posted which version/build they have?

Trying to pair my headphones to the TV but the TV can't see the headphones. Has anyone else managed to pair one or isn't it possible?

 

The headphones are definitely in pairing mode.

I don't think that the TV has the correct profile to act as BT sound source 😞

 

EDIT: That would be a superb candidate for a firmware upgrade, I use a tiny BT transmitter at the moment, when the wife has to go to bed early for work.

On my KDL43-W805C now updated, I see the "Screen Format: Full" pop up at random time intervals when watching Sky + HD box via HDMI port. I never saw this before the update only correctly displaying on change of input or source format. There is no reason for it to pop up at random intervals during during a continuous programme scene. 

I now find it virtually impossible to select a channel by typing in the channel number whilst watching Freeview. The response time for remote key presses is erratic.

 

Has anyone successfully interfaced the TV to the TV Sideview iOS app and downloaded the channel allocations to the app.

 

As we seem to be performing software testing for Sony, can someone advise the correct process of bug reporting where we can formally register bugs for Sony's attention, rather than just discussing it amongst ourselves. 

 

It is sad that I have purchased a very good display panel and supporting hardware which is badly let down by unfinished and unrefined operating software. The concept and ideas behind the TV are great but...

 

I would welcome the chance to meet with a competent Sony Engineering Manager and demonstrate various issues and operating difficulties.

 to lazy to write it all lol. But as it is right now, all features of Netflix seem to be working for me. So here is a pic of the build and software info I'm running if that helps others... DSC_0095.JPG

Got a new mainboard this morning, and with the latest firmware everything
works ten times better than before. BUT, my set believes it's a 43W805 and
in fact it's a 55W809??
And as many other, Cast doesn't work. Can't find it in TV Sideview either...

For those reporting trouble with Google Cast, my 43w805c seems to work moderately well. Watched a whole film yesterday casting from NowTV app on iPad with no issue other than a stuck 'buffering' circle at the start which I cleared by disconnecting and reconnecting. 

Edit.........

STOP PRESS.. Set just locked up.. Would not switch off. Had to power cycle it. NOW the Googlecasting is NOT working and the set cannot be seen on the network. I have done a factory reset and it still doesn't work. So it seems that after the first reset following the update, the Google cast is broken. 

 

CAN WE GET THE SOFTWARE REVERTED? Get the bugs fixed before it is re-released. I need the casting it worked, now it doesn't, this update is a backward step.
