2015 Bravia Android TV Issues

I thought I'd create a generic thread to cover off the issues being encountered on the 2015 Bravia Android TVs. I've listed my issues below with fixes / workarounds and responses from support. All comments and solutions welcome!

1) Hot Swap HDMI doesn't work - manifested by no input on HDMI channels 2, 3 and 4 on the KD-49X8305C. Workaround - reset the TV, either by holding down the remote power button for 5 seconds or by switching the TV off at the wall and then back on again. Further details on this thread: https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/kd-49x8305c-hdmi-2-3-4-inputs-not-working/td-p/1944435

2) HDD Recording doesn't work - error message states a system update is required but none is available when checking. Hopefully this will be fixed soon by a firmware update.

3) Netflix App doesn't work - this seems like the app has been deliberately disabled. So far a support case has only recommended that a factory reset be performed (took two days to get to that cracking piece of advice.....), with no improvement as a result. A temporary (albeit for advanced users only) workaround is provided by MikeLothian on this thread - https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/netflix-support-for-kd55x8509c-android-tv/td-p/1945360

4) Sound lag and performance issues after the TV (KD-49X8305C) has been on standby for a while - manifested for me as stuttering and sound / picture sync issues in all apps (youtube, amazon instant video etc) and HDMI sources (PS4, seperate YouView box etc). Hopefully this will be fixed in a firmware update, at the moment workarounds involve either changing channels to get the sync to work or in my case having to turn the TV off and then on again at the socket.

As stated previously, all comments welcome. Personally I'm willing to give Sony a couple of weeks to fix this, but if it's not done soon I'll be sending my new TV back for a refund as it's not really fit for purpose.

SUDTV Quantum Dot Tech.

I like the way that the chap at 40 mins says 0 is non scalable and infinate. And nothing's infinate.

True, true. But this Samsung demonstration for calibrating HDR (and HDR 10 at 1000 MIT) is fascinating.

I just got the email about it this morning after my posts here. Give it view : http://www.avsforum.com/forum/139-display-calibration/2496194-hdr-calibration-evaluation-seminar-ce-...

But then as it doesn't do Dolby Vision, it's not that great. It does also look like the new Samsungs have around 4 different UI's.

Dolby Vision if your interested : http://www.avsforum.com/independence-day-resurgence-in-dolby-vision-hdr-and-atmos-sound/?utm_content...

But I think I'm set to get the latest iiyama : http://www.iiyama.com/gb_en/ as their 1 ms response time and it's an IPS so it can do most competing tech's. Plus the G-Sync would be nice with the new 1080 Pascal Nivida HMDI2.1a chips.

Have fun, kind regards:smileypeace:

Hello everyone

While we appreciate the frustration that some of you are feeling over problems experienced with your TVs, the atmosphere on this thread is becoming a little unpleasant. It’s off putting for other users of the forum looking to engage and not very conducive to meaningful discussion.

Sony regularly monitors this thread and the superusers on the site actively feedback issues to the technical support team in order to help solve some of the problems you have been experiencing. While not always visible, we are taking notice.

Please remember that this is a place for all Sony customers to share information and experiences, either positive or negative, but we ask that you do so without directing critical and negative comments toward each other.

We try not to be heavy handed when overseeing the forums, but the first rule of the community is to show courtesy and respect to everyone.

I have x8309c 49" and i consistantly have to rest the tv due to massive amounts of picture stutter/jumping this has been going on since the last update, has anyone else got this issue or had it and know how I can solve the problem.

you can be watching tv and then it will just start stuttering making the program un watachable, I have only noticed this with tv viewing not when a film is playing via netflix or a games consol being used (ps4).

Please help!

@milner993  What source are you using when you get the issue for TV veiwing.  Is it an aerial plugged in to the TV or another box?
