Hello

My KD-49XE8396 has similar issue, since i bought it . It says connected but no internet every time when switched on.

Later after toying with network settings, would connect. It would be fine till I switch it off.

I contacted Sony helpline and they asked me to try factory reset. After that and tv was doing fine for a few days and now back to square one.

I been toggling with setting for a while now and it doesn’t seem to connect.

Some YouTube video said I could try turning wifi direct off and turn automatic time and date to off. Still not working.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello

i have problems with my 2 month old Sony Tv, last night I couldn’t get any of the wireless correctablity working. I hadn’t used Netflix for a few days and thought that as our modem had gone down in the week, maybe it had something to do with that. However when I do a scan on the tv for all available networks it brings up none at all, and I remember when I set it that not only our mondem box was listed but the neighbours too!!

However now I cannot find the network at all or manually.

I find it really strange that it has worked fine for about 8 weeks and now it has gone. I was using the router wireless with no problems at all, so don’t understand why that tv cannot pick it up.

I read on here that many of you have had problems, I’ve messaged Sony but if I don’t get anywhere with that, it’s going back to the shop!!!!

I have a KD-43XE8005. I have load the latest software version(            ) and donehard and soft resets.

It is connected to a BT SmartHub 6 by ethernet cable  (There is also a Bose Soundtouch Soundbar which is connected by ethernet cable to the same hub and connected to the TV by HDMI cable to one of the ARC ports on the TV.)

The TV reports that it is not connected to the internet, although an ip address is visible in the network settings. So far the only way I have found to restore the connection is to reboot cycle the power on both the TV and router) The internet connection works while I'm using the TV, but usually, when I try to use the TV the following day it is no longer connected. It sometimes lasts for a couple of days. I have tried rebooting just the router and just the TV but it seems I have to reboot both to restore the connection.

About on the TV shows:

Version: 7

Android security patch level: 5th January 2018

Kernel version: 3.10.79, root@buildHost62 #2, Wed Feb 28 12:22:40 JST 2018

Build BRAVIA_ATV2_EU-user 7.0 NRD91N.S124 1.6.0.28.58.1.00 release keys

In looking for this information to report I came accross and enabled Settings>Network>Home network setup.

Under server diagnostics, it sees a Bose soundtouch REST music server, but lists the conection to it as failed.

Under ipcontrol, I have just enabled Soft ip Control (it warns that this may use more power when on standby) to see if it makes a difference!

I have no connectivity problems with my XE9005 and a Homehub 6; however as a suggestion you could try disabling IPv6 support?  I think it's in the network settings somewhere under manual set-up.  You could also try hard-coding the IP address (static address), and turning off any ultra-low power modes on the TV in standby in case it's powering down the ethernet connection and not recovering properly. Good luck!

By the way, I think there's newer firmware available on the Sony website in the support / downloads section - my XE9005 is showing PKG6.5603.0175EUA.  I had to do a manual update as they gradually roll out the automatic updates over the course of a month but I wanted to update ASAP to see if it fixed the iPlayer 4k problem (which it didn't).

If you've a BT Hub 6 you can force it to use a specific IP address in the settings instead of on the device. All my problems went away when I did this and switched off the WIFI 5 channel.

My  experience on my Sony TV is anything you plug in is likely to cause it problems. I'd try unplugging everything and see if it cures it then plug them back in one at a time.

Best of luck, you'll need it!

My KD49XE8004 had this problem too when my WiFi connection failed after few weeks of connecting OK,  After trying various suggestions without success, I removed and reinserted the mains plug - problem solved.

My Sony Android TV has started to disconnect for no apparent reason, both LAN & Wi Fi, each time I do a speed test only to find that my broadband is okay, so the TV must be at fault.

Sony I paid over £1500 for this TV, its reasonable to expect that issues such as this are dealt with ASAP, when will you be rectifying this fault??

Hi nwa3000mp3,

Could you share with us more about this so we can help? For example, what's the model number of your TV? When did this start to happen? was after an event such as an update or a factory reset? Do other devices connected to the same network have any issues? What is the software version your TV is running?

I've had two of these TV's for about two years now. One still disconnects when it feels like it and the other has stopped working all together - get the re-set start screen and keeps switching the tv on and off every few minutes. Paid a lot for these two TVs and they're rubbish and I certainly won't buy Sony again. There is obviously a design fault as too many report the same problems. My advise would be to anyone with a sony tv less than a year old is take it back and demand your money back.
