I purchased a SONY BRAVIA 8 65" K65XR80PU and SONY BRAVIA THEATRE BAR 8 in early September. On the whole I'm very satisfied however, there is one annoying niggle that I hope you may be able to offer some advice and perhaps a solution.
The Sony Theatre Bar is connected via the specified eARC HDMI port and a Sony Blu-ray Player and also an EE TV Box Pro are connected to the television via HDMI ports 2 and 4 respectively and the Set Up process completed for each.
Although these devices are correctly identified on the appropriate HDMI input and function correctly when turned on I continue to get a 'BRAVIA notifications' that reads –
"Device connected to HDMI 2 (or 4)
Select [Set up] before starting set up on the device"
I have done this numerous times, including after a 'Power Reset', and although the 'notifications' may disappear for a short time they soon reappear.
I have performed a 'Factory data reset', purchased new 'high speed' HDMI cables and also completed the latest software update and although fine for a couple of days the 'notifications' have started again.
I would obviously appreciate any suggestions and a permanent solution to this problem.
Did you try to swap the HDMI cables ends?
Also try to Disconnect all the devices then unplug the TV for 2-3 min then plug it again
God, how I wish HDMI cables were bidirectional 😢
Followed your advice but unfortunately still getting notification that devices connected to HDMI ports need to be Set Up.
@Tallis I think you need to report this to Sony's tech team, and then I believe the will fix that issue in the upcoming software update, use this to contact them: https://services.sony.co.uk/supportmvc/en/contact/
