KD65XG8796BU Powering up Ports and devices on its own?

Hi all.

Just purchased a KD65XG8796BU

And have noticed that it keeps powering up the usb ports and my soundbar all by itself.

A have a soundbar connected to the optical out. A hdd for recording. And a ambient led strip in one usb port.

About every 10 mins or so.but this can be completely random. The TV will power everything up. Sometimes for a few seconds. Sometimes minutes. But it's constant. I keep waking up to find the led lights on and the soundbar powered up. It's bloody annoying.

The only way I can stop it is turn the TV of at  the wall. Which kind makes standby pointless.

What's going on?

I think I've read elsewhere on these forums to try turning off remote start in network settings, and maybe remote devices as well unless you use them.  Also maybe worth turning off WiFi direct unless you use it

I don't understand how a soundbar connected via optical can be powered on by the TV?

If it was hdmi there's is a setting to stop the TV turning on hdmi devices when it powers on. You could try that but if your soundbar is somehow auto sensing an optical signal there may be a setting  in the soundbar to turn that off

The other thing you could try in case it has a positive impact is to enable developer options and set a background task limit to the lowest number, and kill tasks on exit  (though I've noticed recently those settings don't persist all the time)

Many devices support the sensing for the light signal via TOSLINK and turn on accordingly.

Check out my above link. It says everything about the BRAVIA standby behavior. There is nothing really you can do about it. It wakes up every few minutes.

Hi Rodensony,

When I first read this thread I thought it may be related to a Bravia sync issue until I read that the sound bar is connected via optical.

I have had the same thoughts like Tonycv51  to be honest.

I'd say try turning Bravia sync off, or try a different cable. Change the connection type if possible.

Also, if you have other devices like DVDs, USBs, boxes or PS connected try disconnecting them.

Cheers,
