As per title

No ITVX on KD49XG9005. Sony still hates it.

this TV is probably the least loved (by Sony) of all Sony TV’s ever!!!!!!

why do they disrespect the Sony Owners so much.
If you hate us replace our TV’s with one we can use!!!!

Read this, https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/articles/00287614

Click on the 'Click here to view not-supported models'

you will see your XG90 series tv is not supported this is possibly due to

a hardware issue rather than software.

Your beef would be with ITV X for releasing software with a narrow window of compatibility.

According to the ITV website, ITVX should be supported by the following smart TVs and streaming devices:

  • Amazon Fire TV
  • Apple TV (tvOS 12.2 or later)
  • Chromecast
  • Freesat and Freeview Play (some models)
  • LG Smart TVs (2016 or newer)
  • NOW Smart Sticks and Boxes (minimum firmware v11.0.2)
  • Roku Streaming Players (minimum firmware v11.0.2)
  • Samsung Smart TVs (2016 or newer)
  • Sky Glass and Sky Stream
  • Virgin Media

So every LG, and every Samsung, from 2016 onward. While Sony’s list is yes to this one, no to that one, yes to this other one, no to that further one….

If every LG since 2016 can manage to be compatible, and every Samsung since 2016 can manage it as well, building TVs that could manage itvX years before itvX was even thought of, and yet you need a crib sheet to tell you which Sonys can do it and which can’t, then whose ‘narrow window of compatibility’ are we looking at here, exactly?

@dabasto98

It turns out that Sony Android TVs were split into two categories, those that got itvX as from January, and those that got it as from mid-March.

And not, as we feared, those that were going to get it, and those that were never going to get it.

In the case of the second group, though, we don’t know, and may never know, if them never getting it was Sony’s original plan, which they had to abandon in the face of severe customer pushback, or just something technical or commercial connected with the handling of itvX, which took longer to remedy for the second group.
