PIN needed for recording on TV

Hello,

I bought a KD-75X81K, TV just before Christmas 2022.

I wanted to try to record a film broadcast on a terrestial channel.  I used a 128GB USB thumb drive (flash drive) and registered it with the TV.   I can see that there is a large file recorded with the name of the title of the film.

When I come to view the recording a PIN is requested.   I have never set a PIN on the TV and an internet search suggested 9999.  I tried this as well as 0000.

What could the PIN be?  Why does Sony impose this?  Is is a general nuisance and negates this facility.

Help please?

Thanks, Steve

Thank you Lightfoot,

After recalling that some Bluetooth devices have a default PIN of “1234”, I tried this and could see the recorded film 😊

This issue is now resolved.  I have to express surprise that this was not suggested by Sony's help.   Their standard response seems to be to reset everything.

Thanks again,  Steve

Hi @SteveMJ   Try 1111. It is called parental controls, perhaps you haven’t turned them off. If I remember right, it should have been impossible to set up the TV without setting one.

Yes 1234 did work, I said in my earlier reply.  🙂
