Problems transferring video via USB
Hi
Using Sony Handycam DCR-TRV60E connected via USB to macbook. I have a range of tapes with different videos that I can view on the camcorder. But when I connect via USB, all tapes show the same content on the file list to import, which I presume is because these files are on the on the camera's Memory Stick. When I remove the memory stick, the device camera will not show up on USB. Any ideas on how I can transfer the videos?
Many thanks

If you look at Page 190 of your manual, you will see that USB transfer from tapes does not work for Mac.

I think you will need a 4-pin firewire (iLink) to 9-pin firewire cable and a firewire to Thunderbolt adapter from Apple.

I am struggling to find the cable combination you suggest.
I have a MacBook Pro (USB C ports only) and an iMac that has a thunderbolt port.
Is there a camera (4 port) to USB C cable? Would that work?
If not I can get this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/World-Data%C2%AE-Firewire-Cable-9-4/dp/B009XHP2AE/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&...
But then can’t find a female Firewire to Male thunderbolt cable.
Can you help any further?
Many thanks
Gus

Hi Gus
USB is not compatible for transfer from a tape - you will need the iMac with Thunderbolt. However, I see Apple advertise Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter at a silly high price which may work with USB-C - expensive to try though as you need three cables but possibly the only option if you want to use the Mac Pro. Thunderbolt 3 is USB-C.
Thunderbolt to Firewire 800 (male to female):-
https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/product/MD464ZM/A/thunderbolt-to-firewire-adapter
or

Plus
iLink to firewire 800 cable (male to male):-

Thanks for your help so far.
I have bought an i.link to firewire cable 9https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B075PFP7R8/)
And plugged this into an older imac I had.
When I go to import in imovie, the option is greyed out.
So I followed the Sony link to Apple's page on cameras supported and my camcorder DCR-TRV60E is not listed - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204202
Do you have any further advice that might help?
Many thanks
