You can use pretty much any video editing software you like, including free stuff like Windows LIve. For most modern operating systems, the only port to use is the DV jack, which needs a corresponding firewire port on your PC and the i.Link cable supplied with thie camera, or similar. Connections made this way are usually fast and trouble-free, and firewire cards (if your PC doesn't have one) are not expensive.
I don't know where you'll get a CD, and it probably won't be much use even if you find one. There's a USB driver available but compatibility is limited to Windows XP and earlier. This is increasingly the case for older camcorders, as OS development moves on.
