Notification volume control not working correctly

Hi Ive just acquired a new M2, and have a strange problem with the volume levels for email and SMS notifications. The volume on both sounds (which are different sounds) is way too loud. I've been into the Notifications menu and if you play any sounds from the sound picker menu in there they are very quiet. I've turned all the volume controls I can find down to the minimum possible, yet the sounds that are so quiet in the  Notification menu are still deafening when a message comes in.

Have I missed something, or is this a glitch?

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

Have you checked the settings under Settings > Audio > Volumes?

I did, and all seemed OK. I have, however, just discovered that if the xLOUD box is checked, it overrides all other settings and leads to the issue I was having. I'm sure there is a good reason for it doing that, but I can't immediately think of one!!! Anyway, problem solved, thank you.
