BEST WAY TO CLEAN LAPTOP SCREEN

Hi all,

Im a proud owner of vaio fe series laptop for about three months now. My screen is still in mint condition. No scratches or something like that. I do see a lot of fingerprint marks on the screen and quite a bit of dust. Im thinking of using a soft cloth and light solution of isopropyl (50%). What do you think?

Please share your methods for this task!!

Thank U

Keep a meat tenderising mallet by your laptop. Next time someone touches the screen...

While we are on the subject of cleaning. What would u suggest for removing scratches on the body of the laptop. Specifically where the VIAO logo is positioned?? I have no idea what to do here.

I think you may have to put up with the scratches. If you consider that you would effectively have to apply some sort of abrasive material around the area of the scratch and take the surface around it down to below the deepest point in said scratch, you would probably end up causing more damage than the scratch had.

Not too sure if your machine's body is made of metal or plastic but if it's metal and painted then the scratch would have taken the paint off and so that would also need to be replaced after you'd rubbed the scratch out. Lots of grief.

Perhaps others have found a way to succeed using fine abrasives or polishes and I shall stand corrected if they come forward and prove me wrong but imo, other than replacement, I don't know of any effective solution to the problem.

Twisty dear, your daddy and I didn't bring you up to talk that way. :worried:

Oh dear, have your little chums been cruel to you? If so, I will personally box their ears and administer other punishments appropriately.

You don't need any special computer products. Disposable spectacle wipes will dissolve grease without damage to any special coatings. You can get them in any UK chemist or supermarket so I would think they are available elsewhere under local brands. They cost only a few UK pence each and often state "for computer screens" on the package.

These cost about a pound in UK supermarkets, for 26.

I've used glacial (100%) isopropyl ethanol and it has no damage. Just a statement, it may be different for your one remember
