Can I run media without booting windows... using AV-mode. If so how ?

Coz when my laptop is off and i press av-mode button it boots windows

Hi mediashocks and welcome.

It depends which Vaio you have. Although most Vaios have the AV-Mode buttons, some have the "InstantON AV-Mode" installed which does allow you to play media without booting into Windows and others do not.

I think the TX, TZ, UX, CR series do have the InstantON feature, also just the latest FZ has it - the FZ31.

Check your specifications or let us know exactly which model you have.

Unfortunately the FZ21-Series was not fitted with the InstantON feature in Europe - not only are Vaios much cheaper in the US, they also have more features. All FZ Vaios were fitted with this in the US.

Does anyone know how InstantON works? I presume it needs extra hardware to work without Windows and so cannot be installed retrospectively.
